On the walls of the prisons you will find neither "Il carcere in Italia" dated 1971 by Ricci and Salierno nor "La droga e il sistema" dated 1972 by Blumir and Marisa Rusconi.
And further in 1970 "Non soffiare nel narghilè", the incredibly amusing adventures of a pusher and his customers busy smoking a joint, filmed in the hippy community at Terrasini, near Palermo and "A Saro crescono i capelli per amore".
Then "Vigilando reprimere" describing an escape from prison ended badly.
In 1972 Grifi, together with Massimo Sarchielli, directed the already mentioned "Anna" whose billboard lasted at the Filmstudio in Rome for a few months. It was filmed with the first portable quarter-inch open reel camcord used in Italy. It came out in 1975, thanks to an invention by Grifi that enabled transcribing a video tape onto a 16 mm film. The film records the refusal of the actors and staff to submit to the authority direction and script - arising from a few notes written by Sarchielli - then thrown into the "waste paper basket" at the time when Vincenzo, the film's electrician, comes onto the scene and becomes the main actor.
By comparing this gesture of disobedience and a workman bursting into a bourgeois drawing room, Grifi made public an elaborate theory of how, during production, the human behaviour of actors are weakened when they are filmed as they are constrained by the cinematographic environment that calls for times and methods depending on financial restraints.
During 1976, with a group of video hooligans he produced a large number of video documents almost unpublished involved the struggles and behaviour patterns of the Proletariato Giovanile in Milano, Bologna and Roma. This was an independent self-production base on a theory that criticized information different from that of the State, that was against most of the performances aimed at "putting new types of behaviour and creativity into circulation compared to those that were the new proletariat. They needed a cinema that showed how to extract pieces of real life from the false one of the capital and not moth-eaten remembrances of the film libraries that aimed at surviving on remembrances" (Festival del proletariato giovanile at the Parco Lambro, Gli autoriduttori at the convegno di antipsichiatria at Milano, etc).
In 1977, "Il manicomio - Lia" dealt with the institution of psychiatry and "Il preteso corpo" a documentary about a hospital involving the experiments performed on a medicine produced by the 'Roche' given to patients considered to have a psychiatric deficiency that caused a "vascular turmoil" resulting in horrible convulsions. The patients were discharged when they were able to raise their hands in a fascist salute. It was found in a small market then at the Fiera di Senigallia in Milan, with the signature of Grifi as ready- made.
In 1978 a film was presented on prison conditions called "Michele alla ricerca della felicità" filmed with Blumir, commissioned and later censored by the Rai, together with "Dinni e la Normalina, ovvero la videopolizia psichiatrica contro i sedicenti nuclei di follìa militante".
In 1978 as well at the Naropa Institute (Boulder Colorado, USA), together with Costanzo Allione and Fernanda Pivano a film was made on the Beat Generation with Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, Timothy Leary, William Burroughs, Meredith Monk, and others.
In 1979 in Paris again with Gianfranco Baruchello "Doux comme saveur", videos were recorded together with J.F. Lyotard, Pierre Klossowsky, Felix Guattari, David Cooper, Alain Jouffroy, etc.
